Final days in San Miguel

the first day of the Festival - El Senor de La Conquista
(The Lord of the Conquest).  A Festival of Dance which concludes in the cathedral.
Dancers reflect indigenous groups from the whole area, including the Aztecs, and design their own costumes  every year, gaining 15 new feathers for each year they participage.  Music is dominated by the beating of the drums which can be heard all over the city.

a break in the Jardin to enjoy goodies from Cumpanio bakery

temperature dropped 20 degrees overnight and we freeze after 80 deg. weather

even the locals do not understand the meaning of these costumes,  lost in time it would seem

the colors are amazing and it's sad the sun has deserted us on such a day

so difficult to capture photos in the right spot since there is constant movement, but this was obviously a big man in the parade behind all those orange, yellow and pink feathers

Aurelie's birthday, March 1 and we celebrated at an Italian Restaurant

meanwhile, the dancing continued at a frenzied pace
